Timeline

Apr 30, 2021 - Lincoln Katy Trail project gets Dallas Council green light despite Oak Lawn neighborhood opposition

Despite a flood of opposition letters in Dallas City Council inboxes and over a dozen opposition speeches by residents and the Oak Lawn Committee representative, the Lincoln Katy Trail project by council was approved on April 28. The only two council members who voted to oppose the project were councilmen Omar Narvaez and Adam Bazaldua. (Spectrum Local News)

Sep 6, 2022 - Construction has kicked off on an Uptown Dallas apartment community that took years to win approvals.

Developer Lincoln Property Co. is building its Lincoln Katy Trail rental project on Carlisle Street just east of Turtle Creek. The more than 300-unit apartment development will replace 115 aging condominiums on the site between Hall and Bowen streets.

The developers gained zoning for the project last year after a long and sometimes bitter fight with nearby property owners and community groups opposed to the plan. Lincoln Katy Trail will include five- and six-story buildings with a “public paseo on Carlisle leading to Katy Trail.”

Womack + Hampton Architects LLC designed the project. (Dallas News)
