Deer Park is a suburb of the Houston area and is located in Harris County, TX. Billing itself as the "Birthplace of Texas," Deer Park is bordered by the cities of La Porte and Pasadena, with the northern border being created by the Buffalo Bayou. Deer Park is also in close proximity to the San Jacinto Battlefield, the site where Texas actually won its independence from Mexico.

Residents of Deer Park enjoy the rich history of the area with several unique attractions. One of these attractions is Patrick's Cabin. When Sam Houston and his men defeated the Mexican Army in 1836 at the San Jacinto Battlefield to win Texas' independence, Houston took the Mexican army's general to a nearby cabin to sign the treaty papers that would officially emancipate Texas. The cabin that these papers were signed at was located in Deer Park; thus coining the nickname Birthplace of Texas. In commemoration of this event, the City of Deer Park erected a replica of Patrick's Cabin in 1985 and has proven to be a draw for residents and tourists alike. The Battleground Golf Course and San Jacinto Battleground State Historic Site are also big attractions that give Deer Park its authentic "lonestar" culture.
